Wireless fire alarms
1. Will the installation of wireless fire alarms disrupt my business?
When considering the disruption a fire alarm system installation will cause, there are usually two points to consider; the time the installation will take and the noise that will be made carrying out the works. Compare to a wired fire alarm system, a wireless fire alarm can be installed in a fraction of the time. As you can appreciate, because there is only a mimimal amount of wiring to be installed and a detector can be installed in 10 minutes, wireless fire alarms are usually installed in a matter of days, rather than weeks, which is usually the case for wired systems. Because a wireless fire alarm does not require cables to be fixed or drilled to the fabric the element of noise is virtually non existent.
2. How much damage will the installation of the fire alarm cause to my decoration and building fabric?
When installing a wireless fire alarm only a small amount of wiring is necessary ,therefore there is little or no damage to the decoration and building fabric. Whereas the wiring required to connect all the detectors and sounders on a wired fire alarm either have to be visible for all to see, hidden in a false ceiling, behind cavities or chased and plastered into the wall. In many buildings especially hotels, the original wall paper cannot be purchase as the pattern is discontinued if purchase sometime ago.
3. Will there be any unsightly cables or surface wiring containment, such as plastic trunking?
How many times have you enter a beautiful, historic or well decorated building/room only to see fire alarm wiring or trunking displayed. This is the great advantage of a wireless fire alarm system. On average, 95% of the installation will be without cables, so usually no cables will be displayed.
For this vey reason Fire Systems Ltd, have installed wireless fire alarms and carried out fire alarm servicing in many listed buildings and hotels.
4. What will be the cost?
The cost for a wired and wireless fire alarms work out to be the same. The wireless equipment is more expensive, but this is balance against the additional labour required to install the wired fire alarm.
