Fire alarm at Radnor School

Fire alarm at Radnor School

Radnor School, award Fire Systems Ltd, fire alarm upgrade.

The existing fire alarm at this stunning historic building was not fit for purpose and required replacing. Radnor School required a fire alarm system that would not spoil the beautiful architecture, but provide the level of fire protection the school now required.

Radnor House is London’s new co-educational independent day school in Twickenham, opening in September 2011. It is located in stunning historical buildings on the banks of the River Thames in South West London. Formerly, the site of Alexander Pope’s mansion where he entertained the literary elite of his day, the buildings have been transformed into a school combining a sense of history with the latest educational provision.

Our fire alarm designer visited the school and met with the deputy head David Paton. Following a meeting, comprehensive site survey and listing to what David and their insurers wanted to achieve, we set about designing a fire alarm system to meet the client’s requirements.

The requirements were as follows:

  • Design and supply a system to the level of protection as specified by the insurance company.
  • Provide a system that would not damage or spoil the fabric of this beautiful historic building.
  • Provide such a system within a set budget.

Our designer put forward a wireless fire alarm and submitted this design to the insurance company.

After some minor amendments and working with the school and the insurance company, our design was accepted.

The installation of the new wireless fire alarm system was completed and handed over to the client in two weeks, meeting all the requirements as listed.
