Radio fire alarm at Garth Hotel - London

Fire Systems Ltd, a Radio fire alarm specialist, were invited to design and install a Radio fire alarm at the Garth Hotel. The invitation was following a fire risk assessment, the report concluded that the existing fire alarm system needed to be upgraded, and additional smoke detection would be required in all the bedrooms.
The Garth Hotel is a small, privately owned hotel, in the centre of London (Bloomsbury)
The building is grading II listed, 18th century, Georgian town house of historical interest. It was the birthplace in 1839 of William De Morgan the famous potter and novelist.
There was no false ceiling or many cavities to install the additional wiring, no wiring access voids into the bedrooms and the decoration enhance the theme of this historic hotel. Surface wiring containment (plastic trunking), was not an option.
The challenge for our design and installation team was obvious.
Fire Systems Ltd, a Radio fire alarm specialist, liaised with the fire brigade and the owners of the hotel to design a Radio fire alarm system protecting all the bedrooms, escape routes and areas of high risk.
This was a fully occupied Hotel, but because a Radio smoke detector can be installed in 10 minutes, we did not cause any disruption to the guest or the hotel in general.
The Radio fire alarm system was installed in three days, transforming the old conventional zone fire alarm to an addressable state of the art system.
The management of the hotel and fire brigade were happy with our installation and Fire Systems Ltd, went on to retain the fire alarm maintenance.
