Fire Systems Ltd - Wireless fire alarm protects the Old Vic Tunnels

The wireless fire alarm system within Tunnel 228 at Waterloo Station is to be upgraded. This follows The Old Vic acquiring a licence from Lambeth Council to use Tunnels 228-332 beneath Waterloo Station as a performance venue in 2010 and have named them The Old Vic Tunnels.

Fire Systems Ltd, who have already installed a wireless fire alarm system to protect the tunnels are now in the process of designing and upgrading the current fire alarm system to incorporate early warning air sampling smoke fire detection.

Upgrading the fire protection systems within the tunnels, will enable The Old Vic Tunnels to be a safe home to a series of innovative and surprising arts events. Beginning in February, The Old Vic will curate at least four shows throughout 2010. The season will feature a range of work to appeal to a diverse audience.

Fire Systems Ltd, will be designing and installing the additional wireless fire alarm systems in a limited 4 week period, to enable the Old Vic to start their programme in March.

The design of the new system will enable the wireless fire alarm to isolate the air sampling units in the individual tunnels but keep the wireless heat detectors and manual call points live,

The performance venue will also host unique ‘pop-up’ events and film screenings throughout the year. The Old Vic will collaborate with a variety of partners ranging from theatre groups, visual artists, film-makers and musicians to create powerful aural and visual experiences.

Fire Systems Ltd, is renowned throughout the industry as the wireless fire alarm specialist.
